Lodi police arrest two suspicious people

Lodi police made two arrests this week involving suspicious persons in Lodi.

Officer James Macho was patrolling near businesses on the 1300 block of South Fairmont Avenue and Kettleman Lane on Thursday, April 6 at 7:30 a.m. when he saw a man acting suspicious in the parking lot, according to the Lodi Police Department. Macho attempted to contact the man, who police said fled on a bicycle into a nearby retirement community.

The man dropped his bicycle and fled on foot, but Macho gave chase and caught up to him, police said. That man was identified as 37-year-old Kenneth James Johnson, according to police. Officer Hettie Stillman arrived on scene and Johnson was taken into custody on suspicion of resisting arrest, prowling, and with a warrant for failure to appear in court. He is currently still in custody at the San Joaquin County Jail with no bail allowed.

On Wednesday, April 5, at 2:07 p.m., Detective Mitch LeStrange stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation near the intersecti­on of Lodi Avenue and Main Street. After A searching the vehicle, LeStrange found that the passenger 19-year-old Francisco Javier Ulloa of Lodi was in possession of a loaded handgun, police said. Ulloa was arrested and booked into the Lodi City Jail on suspicion of being a criminal street gang member carrying a loaded firearm, and not being the registered owner of the handgun.

He is currently being held at the San Joaquin County Jail with no bail allowed.
