Galt woman arrested following high-speed chase through Lodi
LODI — California Highway Patrol officers from Stockton arrested a Galt woman Tuesday after a highspeed pursuit and collision in Lodi.
On Tuesday, just after 12:30 p.m., the Rio Vista Police Department notified Stockton CHP that they were in pursuit of a brown 1997 Honda Accord that had been reported stolen.
Rio Vista officers had been tailing the vehicle on eastbound Highway 12 west of Tower Park, but lost sight of the car due to traffic and the high speed of the pursuit.
CHP officers spotted the Honda on Highway 12 headed east from Guard Road, and followed the car into the city of Lodi.
During the chase, the Honda’s driver — identified by officers as Katie Lee Fischer, 27, of Galt — topped speeds of 100 miles per hour and committed several moving violations, the CHP officers said.
Officers halted their pursuit on Kettleman Lane near Fairmont Avenue because the high speeds and traffic conditions posed dangers to officers and civilians.
The Honda continued east on Kettleman, eventually crashing into a truck near Pep Boys, just west of Cherokee Lane. At that point, Fischer fled on foot, officers said.
She was apprehended in the Pep Boys parking lot and placed under arrest.
Fischer was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail in French Camp on charges of felony vehicle theft, and misdemeanor charges of driving with a suspended license, hitand-run property damage, and evading a peace officer with wanton disregard for safety, as well as an additional warrant.
She’s being held on bail of $162,470. She will appear at 12:15 p.m. today in the Lodi courthouse.
