Was missing Yuba College student kidnapped?
YUBA CITY — The mother of a missing Yuba College student received several text messages claiming the 20-year-old was kidnapped, a Sacramento TV station reported Wednesday night.
KCRA based its report on what it said were multiple law enforcement sources.
According to the station, authorities said Alycia Yeoman’s mother first received a message Tuesday night, making demands. The messages were sent to Yeoman’s mother through an online source which used multiple IP addresses, making it difficult to trace.
KCRA said the FBI is now involved in the case.
Yeoman, 20, has been missing for six days.
Gridley-Biggs Police Chief Dean Price said in an email Wednesday that the department is continuing to follow up on all investigative leads and is searching in the Pennington area of Live Oak.
Yeoman, a Yuba College student and Gridley resident, was last seen leaving a Yuba City residence in the 1800 block of Romero Street at about 11 p.m. March 30, driving her green 1998 Toyota Tacoma truck.
She missed work at the Gridley McDonald’s and at Starbucks, which co-workers say is uncharacteristic. The truck was found at the Live Oak Recreation Area in the 1100 block of Pennington Road on Monday.
Sutter County Undersheriff Jeff Pierce had said the vehicle was found on the river side of the levee just north of the park and was stuck in the mud. At least one set of footprints was found.
He said farmworkers first spotted Yeoman’s truck Friday, but didn’t report it until Monday when the vehicle hadn’t moved all weekend. Yeoman’s cellphone was found by a citizen near her truck; that person said they tried to turn on the phone to identify the owner, but only received momentary power before it shut off.
Yeoman is 5-foot-4, 125 pounds, with brown hair and blonde highlights. She wears braces, has a nose ring and a small mole near her left eye.
