Liberty Oaks Pony Club members pass mounted, unmounted exams
It is with great honor the Liberty Oaks Pony Club announces that three members passed their recent unmounted and mounted exam, certifying them now as D2 Pony Club Members.
On March 31, Aaron Bird, Cereya Mettler and Rachel Peters were tested on horse turnout, riding on the flat and over fences, along with a written and oral exam on horse management.
The test was held at Gateway Farm in Acampo and administered by Kayla Ramsdell-Riesberg, an alumna of Liberty Oaks Pony Club, with her “A” Certification — the highest certification achievable within the organization.
For those interested, there is a local Pony Club in Acampo at Gateway Farm — 18025 E. Collier Road. The club meets the second and fourth Saturday of each month, weather permitting. Horses may be available to lease.
This organization is not only for ponies, but horses, too. Members are taught three primary riding disciplines: dressage, show jumping, and cross-country.
It is a very structured program, teaching beyond just riding horses. Good horsemanship extends far beyond skills in the saddle. In Pony Club, you will learn an impressive depth of knowledge in equine behavior and training, health and fitness, nutrition and veterinary care. You’ll learn about tack and equipment and understand their correct uses and maintenance.
Pony Club members also learn strong business skills through stable managementscheduling, record keeping, communicating and interacting with others, resulting in becoming extraordinary citizens and developing lifelong friendships.
