Galt wins Elliot tournament

The 14th-annual Elliot Christian softball tournament finished with two local varsity teams in first and third — Galt High won the tournament with a 5-0 win over Ripon Christian on Saturday, while host Elliot placed third.

While Galt took down Valley Christian in the semifinals to start Saturday, Ripon Christian took down Elliot 12-4.

Charis Guerzo went 2-for-3 for the Eagles, while Madi Sepp, Tabby Lang, Sophia Butler and Natalie Pinasco had a hit each.

Later in the day, Galt shut out Ripon Christian 5-0 for the championsh­ip, allowing two hits and one runner on an error.

Elliot, meanwhile, took down Valley Christian 11-7 in the third-place game, with a triple and three intentiona­l walks by Sepp. Guerzo and Lang each went 3-for-4 with a double from Land, while Annabelle Sepp, Grace Robles and Sophia Butler each singled. Annabelle Seppt pitched a complete game, striking out four.

The Flames were up by three runs going into the seventh inning on Monday, but a Lincoln rally turned the tide.

Harlie Litton led the Flames with three singles, Samantha Amarante had a home run, Rylie Brooks had a double and a single, Bailey Correia had two singles and two RBIs, Dessa Zavala had two singles, Ashley Toy had a single and an RBI, and Marissa Fabian and Allisa Yabumoto had singles.

Danielle Pfennig struck out two from the circle while allowing six hits.

The Bulldogs steamrolle­d the Tigers on Monday, with 20 hits. Tokay tallied eight hits, with two of them going to Arianna Lozano. Simone Medeiros added a triple, Keala Brown and Kayly Pau had doubles, and singles came from Mia Misasi, Brooke Graddy and Sydney Giovannoni. Frosh-soph

Gianna Guidi went 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs in Monday’s loss, along with a 2-for4 day with two runs from Kiara Baker, 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run from Madison Faul, 2-for-5 with a run from Brooke Lewis, a single and a run from Diana Huerta, a single and two runs from Brianna Barr and a single with a run from Alexia Hall.

Lewis pitched a complete game, with three strikeouts and 12 hits.

Megan Walker, Sydney Stewart, Belen Espinosa and Layla Ayala had singles for the Tigers, but it was Emily Walker who scored Tokay’s lone run, stealing home in the final inning.

Lodi High won the 18-team tournament during a windy day on Monday, carding a 411 to second-place St. Mary’s 421. The two teams will face off today at Woodbridge Country Club.

Justin Gums was low medalist with an even-par 72, followed by Jack LeBaron at 78, Tyler Rowlands at 80, Gavin Shafter at 90 and Evan Seibly and Dean Ky each with 91s.

BASEBALL

The Eagles split Monday’s double-header against Turlock Christian on Monday, dropping the first game 4-2 and winning the second 5-0.

Robert Dutcher struck out 10 batters in the loss, allowing seven hits and four runs, while Nick Figueroa went 2-for-4 with a triple and Dutcher went 2-for-4.

Figueroa pitched the shutout victory, allowing three hits while striking out three batters. Tyler Schrader went 2-for-4 with a double, while Figueroa and Dutcher each added a double.

Elliot improved to 8-8 overall and 6-4 in the CCAA. Freshmen

The Tigers had three hits in Thursday’s loss, all of them doubles by Nate Bonham, Harrison Blevins and Kyle Shannon.
