San Joaquin AgFest now accepting entries
Young people: If you’ve spent the past year raising an animal or working on a project for 4-H or Future Farmers of America, now is your time to put your hard work on display.
The San Joaquin AgFest Junior Livestock Show and Auction is accepting entries for this year’s Hawaiian luau-themed event, which will be held from June 11 to 17.
The deadline for entries is midnight on May 15. All 4-H, FFA, Grange and independent youths are eligible to enter.
Entries can range from welding and woodworking projects to horticulture, floriculture and entomology. Livestock and animal entries include beef, swine, goats, other dairy animals, rabbits, poultry, dogs and more.
The show is also still looking for sponsors.
“This is an important event for the agricultural youth in our county and they need our support to make this show and auction a great event,” AgFest president Jeff Wagner said in a press release.
The six-day event goes beyond just the show and auction. A Farm to Fork Night will celebrate the agricultural production of San Joaquin County, and ticket proceeds will go to support 4-H and FFA.
AgFest also provides scholarships to local youths who participate in the program.
