Tokay throws wrench in baseball standings

In 10 innings on Tuesday, the Tokay High baseball team picked up its first Tri-City Athletic League win of season.

Playing at Lincoln, the Tigers posted a 3-1 win over the Trojans. Tokay’s win also helped Lodi take sole possesion of third place; the Flames beat West 6-2 at Zupo Field, also on Tuesday. See the West-Lodi story on Page 9.

Nick Frisk (three innings) and Max Blevins (seven innings) combined to hold Lincoln to six hits and three walks across 10 frames, with just one strikeout by Blevins.

At the plate, Jaime Quesada went 2-for-4 with a double for Tokay (1-6 in the TCAL, 7-11), Dylan Mahurin doubled as well with an RBI. Ryan Lew, Diego Ramirez, Victor Munoz and Hugo Velazquez each singled. Frosh-soph

The Flames notched their first TCAL win behind a complete-game shutout by Ezequiel Nino, who went five innings, allowed four hits and struck out three.

Cody Mize belted a walk-off two-run triple to trigger the 10run rule and end the game, while Ian Watanabe and Lucas Foster each had two singles, Jonathan Charboneau had a double, and Owen Christense­n and Angelo Zazzarino had singles.

The Tigers fell on the final play on Tuesday. Alberto Magallanes went 2-for-3 with two runs, David Fuentes went 2-for-3 with a triple, Asiel Garcia doubled and drove in three runs, Mile Kirkendall doubled and scored twice and Bryce Neuvert singled and scored twice. Freshmen

James Haynes went 2-for-3 with a double and scored Tokay’s lone run in Tuesday’s loss, while Nate Bonham and Colby Baker doubled and Kyle Shannon singled.

Varsity Lodi 195, St. Mary’s 219

The Flames wrapped up TCAL action at the Woodbridge Golf and Country Club, par 37, to finish the regular season at 91 in the TCAL and 15-1 overall.

Tyler Rowlands had a 4-under 33 for Lodi. Jack LeBaron and Dean Ky carded a 38 each, Justin Gums 40 and Evan Seibly 46. St. Mary’s Nolan Wallace was two over par at 39.

Varsity Millennium 15, Elliot Christian 2

The Eagles were held to only five hits in Tuesday’s Central California Athletic Alliance road game in Tracy.

Two of those hits came off the bat of Madi Sepp, who went 2-for-2 wiht a double and scored both of the Eagles’ runs. Annabella Sepp and Tabby Lang had a double each, and Grace Robles had a single.

Millennium benefitted from 11 hits, plus eight errors by Elliot (4-4 in the CCAA, 10-6-1).

In a Sierra Valley Conference home game at the Galt Sports Complex, also on Tuesday, Liberty Ranch (8-1 in the SVC, 14-21) knocked off defending conference champions Union Mine (46 in the SVC) 11-0 in five innings. The Hawks, who host El Dorado (5-4 in the SVC) today, now hold a one game lead over Rosemont (9-2 in the SVC). Liberty Ranch and Rosemont meet again in the SVC finale on May 4.
