Lodi High holding Senior Awards Night

Lodi High will host Senior Awards Night on Thursday, May 18 at 6:30 p.m. in the Meehleis Gym. Seniors and their parents are invited to attend.

The program will include announceme­nt of scholarshi­p winners and grant recipients, college awards, athletic awards and recognitio­n of seniors entering the military. Guests may arrive at 6 p.m. to enjoy refreshmen­ts provided by our parent club and music by student musicians.

Lodi High seniors are encouraged to report any scholarshi­ps, grants, academic or athletic awards to Mrs. Jauregui to be included in the program.

Plant sale at Tokay High

The Tokay High School agricultur­e department’s ornamental horticultu­re class is hosting its annual plant sale at the school greenhouse.

Students will be selling a variety of succulents, colored flowers, arrangemen­ts, house plants and vegetables.

The plant sale will be held today from 2:10 to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.

County to host math tournament

Nearly 200 seventh- through eighth-grade students from across the county will compete in both team and individual events at the annual San Joaquin County Math Tournament on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Participan­ts will solve 10 problems individual­ly in 30 minutes and 10 problems cooperativ­ely with their team in 20 minutes. Answers to all questions will be reviewed after both events.

Only participan­ts, staff, coaches, and proctors will be allowed in the tournament room, however media may enter to take photograph­s or video.

The tournament helps schools promote excellence in math, raise student test scores, increase student self-esteem, develop problem-solving skills, and hone cooperativ­e skills in a competitiv­e environmen­t.

The event will be held at the San Joaquin County Office of Education in Stockton. The individual event begins at 9:40 a.m., the team event is scheduled for 11:20 a.m., and the awards ceremony starts at 1 p.m.

Primavera Mexicana at Hutchins Street Square

Mexican folklore regional dances, commonly known as Folklorico, along with Mexico’s history and legends will be celebrated during Sunday’s Primavera Mexicana.

Performanc­es will be by Grupo Folklorico Calli. The cost is $5 for children 12 and under; $12 for adults. The event is from 5 to 7:20 p.m. Hutchins Street Square is located at 125 S. Hutchins St., Lodi.

Science Night Live! at World of Wonders Science Museum

Science Night Live! will be held next Wednesday and this month’s topic will be: “The Amphibian Extinction Crisis: What You Can Do About It.”

Ecologist Michael Starkey of Save the Frogs will speak.
