ELMER CARL WOLFF

-

1928 – 2017

Elmer Carl Wolff entered eternal rest on April 19, 2017 at the age of 88. He was the loving son of the late Carl and Magdalena Wolff and brother of his late sisters Mildred Filipello and Edna Nuss of Lodi. He is survived by his son Scott Wolff of Las Vegas, NV and 4 grandchildren.

Born on a farm outside of Java, South Dakota, he moved with his family to the Lodi area in 1935.

During his senior year at Lodi High School, he joined the 49th Division of the California National Guard. He moved up the ranks to eventually graduate from the Officer Candidate School in the class of 1953. Over his many years of service in the National Guard, he worked primarily as a Field Artillery Officer ultimately achieving the rank of Major.

He worked for the Bank of America for over 30 years. He held a wide variety of jobs with them starting out as a bank teller in Lodi. This work was served well by his outgoing, friendly personality. Several of his years of employment were spent overseas as an auditor. He enjoyed his time working for the bank in such countries as Japan, France and England.

He was preceded in death by his wife Beverly (Anderson) Wolff. They lived for many years in Novato and were members of the Marin Covenant Church.

He was a very loving father and uncle. He cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren over the years. He loved telling his family countless stories of his life spent in Lodi as a young boy. The detail of his memory was outstanding. It often felt like his audience was living his Central Valley life along with him. His gentle nature endeared him to his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.

Committal will be private through the Neptune Society with no visitation or services.
