Layla is an approximately 6-monthold spayed shepherd/Staffordshire terrier mix.

Layla is a very sweet and outgoing puppy who has overcome quite a bit since being rescued by PALS several months ago. She tested positive for parvovirus shortly after being brought into the city shelter as a stray in February. PALS rescued her, and immediately brought her in for life-saving medical treatment. Though it was a rough first few days, Layla made a full recovery.

Layla is now a happy and healthy puppy who is full of life and love. She is very outgoing and friendly, and just loves being able to be outside. Whether it’s running around in our play yard or going for short walks, she’s always interested in exploring her surroundings.

Layla’s always up for making new friends, too, and she loves to lean into you for some special attention. She will need some basic obedience training to help her become a model canine citizen. If this sweet girl sounds like the perfect puppy for you, please come in and meet her!

For more information, call PALS at 209-224-0354. To meet other cats and dogs available for adoption, stop by the PALS Adoption Center at 1405 W. Kettleman Lane, next to the Lodi Animal Shelter. Center hours are Tuesday to Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and closed Sunday and Monday.

••• Willy is a 1-year-old terrier mix that weighs about 141⁄2 pounds. He was rescued from the streets with his friend Fritz, and no one claimed him.

Willy is always happy and wagging his tail, and he is always carrying some kind of toy in his mouth. It could even be a leaf if no toy is available! He enjoys going after the ball when thrown, but doesn’t always bring it back to you.

Willy gets along great with other dogs, and he likes belly rubs and laying in the sun. He will alert you when company comes knocking.

Willy walks well on a leash and rides well in the car. Willy will make a fantastic addition to a family that already has another small dog.

Willy’s vaccinations are current, and he has been neutered, microchipped, treated with Frontline and de wormed. Photography compliments of 4 paws pet photography.

••• Ashby is a 1-year-old domestic longhair brown/black and white tabby and the most easy going dude you'll ever meet! Ashby was seven weeks old when he was posted on a pet rehoming site with the threat that if he was not adopted, he would be drowned. A Second Chance Kitty board member quickly took him in.

Ashby has been raised in a multicat home and embraces each new cat that comes through the door. He's also been raised with a 41⁄2-year-old little girl and he LOVES gentle kids. Ashby lets her push him around in the baby stroller and carry him around the house. Ashby really is a very special cat, and his foster family would keep him if they didn't already have a full house.

Ashby free feeds on a low- to nograin food and he looks forward to wet food every night. He's also a big fan of Temptation Tuna treats and Greenies.

Ashby, like all Second Chance Kitty cats, is STRICTLY indoor only. He is a commitment for the next 15 to 20 years or more, through moves and children. Only homes able to make the commitment should apply to adopt him. Ashby is neutered, rabies, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, deflead and FeLV/FIV negative.
