COLLEEN CALLAHAN BURLINGTON

-

October 15, 1954 – April 20, 2017

Colleen Burlington, age 62, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2017, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Lodi on October 15, 1954, to Frank and Esther Callahan. She attended Lodi schools and graduated from Lodi High School in 1972.

Colleen graduated from California State University Sacramento with a degree in Fine Arts. She was a lifelong creator of lovingly crafted artistic pieces ranging from folk art paintings on objects such as milk cans and propane tanks to beautifully executed acrylic and oil portraits and landscapes on canvas.

Colleen’s most treasured occupation in life was being a full time mother to her beautiful twin daughters, participating in their many childhood activities (raising 4-H rabbit projects) and supporting their efforts, hopes, and dreams as they grew to adulthood.

In recent years, Colleen enjoyed spending time with her two beautiful grandchildren, enjoying family and friends at her mountain cabin, and participating in her wonderful, fun, and caring neighborhood dinners and camping trips. She traveled extensively with her constant companion and the love of her life, Jim Burton.

Colleen was a vibrant, glorious breath of fresh air, an awakening that left one more alert and appreciative of the bounty that life has to offer. She gave unconditional support, and was always thrilled for other’s successes, rather than jealous of them. In times of hardship and sorrow, she was strong and brave. She lived fully, fearlessly, and lovingly.

Colleen is survived by her “undocumented husband” James Burton, her daughters Anne Nakagawa (Kenji), and Beth Calder (Mark), two grandchildren, Mikael Tiku and Taylor Calder, brother Michael Callahan (Nancy), nephew Lewis Callahan (Heidi), niece Stephanie Kincaid, great niece Peyton Callahan, great nephew Barrett Kincaid, and her uncle, Arnold Keller. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Esther Callahan.

Friends and family are invited to attend an open house celebration of Colleen’s life from 2 to 6 PM on May 4, 2017 at Wine and Roses in The Cellar Room, 2505 W. Turner Road, Lodi CA.

Remembrances in her honor may be made by donation to Calaveras Big Trees Association, PO Box 1196, Arnold CA, 95223.
