Five local games to watch this week

Softball: Tokay at Lodi 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Lodi Softball Complex Lodi (4-10 in the TCAL) may be mathematically eliminated from playoff contention with Monday’s loss to St. Mary’s, but there’s still one big game to play: cross-town rival Tokay (3-9). The Flames and Tigers have split their two meetings this season, with a 6-3 Tokay victory on March 29 and a 12-2 Lodi win on April 20.

Baseball, St. Mary’s at Lodi 4 p.m. Thursday at Zupo Field The Flames opened up a lead over Lincoln for the third spot in the TCAL with last week’s sweep of West, while Tokay swept Lincoln. Lodi sits at 6-3 in TCAL play (13-8 overall), with Lincoln (8-13) and Tokay (9-11) now tied at 3-6 for fourth. The TCAL sends only three teams to the playoffs. Tokay has a three-game series against last-place West this week, and the two Lodi schools finish the regular season with a series against each other. So if Lodi can take one or two from second-place St. Mary’s (12-8, 7-2), the Flames would be set up well for that final series.

Track and field, Tokay at Lodi 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Lodi High’s Don Womble Field While Lodi seems headed to a league championship in varsity boys and girls, Thursday’s meet will showcase a number of excellent matchups. The distance runs will feature rematches from cross country season, with runners like Lodi’s Stuart Fuller and Peter Vo vs. Tokay’s Andres Sandoval and Also Perez.

Baseball, West at Tokay 6:30 p.m. today at Zupo Field The Tigers helped Lodi out with last week’s sweep of Lincoln, but now if the Tigers want to have a chance at catching Lodi in the final week, they will need to pile up wins this week against last-place West. That series starts today.

Baseball, Elliot at Brookside Christian 6 p.m. Wednesday at Zupo Field Elliot Christian (6-4) moved into a three-way tie for third place in a league that sends four to the playoffs. Three teams will battle over the final week of the season for two playoff sports: Big Valley Christian, Millennium and Elliot are all 7-4 in league play. Elliot can make a move with this week’s twogame series against Brookside (2-7).
