DIANNE ALETHA SCHROEDER

-

Dianne Aletha Schroeder peacefully passed away on April 30, 2017 after struggling for years with Alzheimer’s and cancer.

Dianne was born in Los Angeles, California on August 29, 1940 to Aletha and Gordon Dey. While working at Honeywell as an administrative secretary, Dianne met and fell in love with Don Schroeder. It was then, that they started calling each other by “Charlie” and “Sarah” to avoid the company finding out. Dianne and Don were married 51 years. Throughout their marriage, they enjoyed traveling. Their adventures took them from Tonga to Alaska to Mexico. No matter where they roamed, Dianne would always manage to find a hot dog stand.

Dianne was an intelligent woman. After raising her family in Novato and Sebastopol, she went back to school, graduating summa cum laude from Sonoma State University with a BA in Criminal Justice. Then she worked for the California Youth Authority and Employment Development for 7 years. Later, she obtained her real estate license and worked for Schaffer, Suess and Boyd until retiring with Don to Igo, California where she was active in the Igo Community Church and local art association.

Dianne was a spirited, strong, caring woman. Her family and friends were a great joy to her; she supported them, and loved them all dearly. She will be remembered for her strong will, sense of humor, honesty, 28 years of sobriety through AA, delicious meals and beautiful paintings.

Dianne is survived by her husband Don, son Robert (Errin) Schroeder, daughter Jennifer (Fred) Lozo, daughter Betsy (Justin) Meyer, and by her 11 grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

There will be a private remembrance for family and friends from 1 to 4 p.m. on June 23, 2017 at Don Schroeder’s house. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
