State Sen. Ted Gaines to speak in Stockton
State Sen. Ted Gaines, R-El Dorado, will be the guest speaker at the upcoming San Joaquin Republican Assembly general membership meeting.
SJRA is the San Joaquin unit for the California Republican Assembly, a conservative California Republican activist group.
Gaines is a candidate for the State Board of Equalization in 2018, and has already garnered the endorsement of 26 members of the state Legislature.
Gaines is the only declared candidate in the race for the BOE District 1 seat, which is currently represented by George Runner. Runner is leaving the Board in 2018 due to term limits, The 1st District, which consists of all or parts of 30 counties, has been represented by Runner since 2010.
The SJRA meeting will be at 6 p.m. May 23 at UJ’s Restaurant, 7628 Pacific Ave., Stockton.
Gardening workshop at library on Monday
The Lodi Public Library will host a gardening workshop with the San Joaquin Master Gardeners on Monday. The topic of the day will be successfully growing an herb garden.
The workshop will run from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the library’s community room, 201 W. Locust St., Lodi. The event is free, but space is limited. For more information or to register, call 209-953-6100.
Lodi Ukulele Club meeting
The Lodi Ukulele Club will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Lodi Public Library at 201 W. Locust St. All skill levels are welcome to join the circle. Bring your uke, sing along or just enjoy the music. Attendance is open to the public and free of charge.
Job coach at Marian O. Lawrence Library
A job coach volunteer is available from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at the Marian O. Lawrence Library, 1000 Caroline Ave., Galt.
