The Lodi Cycle Bowl will be busy tonight, with pro riders from all over dropping in on the quarter-mile track’s Night Before the Mile.

Hosted by the Lodi Motorcycle Club, the track bills the seventh running of the Alamo Alarm Night Before the Mile as the biggest quarter-mile race of the year this side of the Mississippi River.

“This will be the greatest event ever at the Cycle Bowl in the 65 years it’s been running,” race director John Martin said in a press release.

The event, which will be streamed live on NASCAR-owned fanschoice.tv, will include the Alamo Alarm open pro class, the Motion Pro Dash for Cash, the open amateur class, the 250 shootout and the 85s for the West Coast Championships.

Northern California riders expected to join the festivities, according to Martin, include Chad Cose from Fremont, Mike Rush from San Jose, Tony Meiring from Tracy and the Modesto Madia of Michael Inderbitzin and James Monaco. Local amateurs Christian Spurgeon of Lodi and Hunter Brooks of Manteca will also be there, along with Lodi’s Justin Anselmi in the 250cc class and Dominic Demario in the 85cc class.

Many of the pro riders are making the stop here Friday on their way to the race in the Sacramento Mile on Saturday at Cal Expo.

Spectator gates open at 2 p.m., practice begins at 3:45 p.m. and time trials begin at 5 p.m. Opening ceremonies are at 6 p.m., and the racing begins at 6:30.
