- By Esther Jimenez

On May 14, Lodi Community Outreach hosted the second annual Mother’s Day Memorial Butterfly Release to remember and honor loved ones.

The remembrance took place at Lodi Funeral Home, located at 725 S. Fairmont Ave. in Lodi. The hour-long program supported community members who have lost a parent, child or other loved one.

Inspirational speakers Sheila Edwards, Maria Miller and Alexis Ferreira spoke at the event. In Motion Theatre Company put on a special performance for guests, and visitors could watch a live painting by local artist Jun Jamosmos.

At the end of the program, each guest released a live butterfly as a symbol of love, transformation and hope.

“Remembrance events are an important part of healing,” said Christine Taylor, manager and funeral director of Lodi Funeral Home. “Our desire is to provide comfort and encouragement to those in our community who have experienced loss. Lodi Community Outreach is committed to offering quality healing experiences for all those affected by loss.”

The Mother’s Day Memorial Butterfly Release is just one of many free activities and events conducted throughout the year by Lodi Community Outreach, a program of Lodi Funeral Home.
