Lodi begins resurfacing work on Finance Department parking lot
LODI — The City of Lodi’s Finance Department, located at 310 W. Elm St., closed down its parking lot for reconstruction on Monday.
The resurfacing project will take approximately one month to complete and includes curbside repairs, removal and replacement of asphalt paving, as well as storm drainage improvements. Those who drive near the Finance Department might want to take alternative routes for the next month to avoid minor traffic back-ups.
The Finance Department’s drop box will be relocated to the City Hall parking lot around the corner, at 221 W. Pine St. Supplemental parking will be made available on Pine Street, as the timed parking east of Pleasant Avenue will not be enforced. Customers may also use the City Hall parking lot and enter the Finance Department from the south side.
“The parking lot will have the same footprint as before, as the number of stalls will unfortunately stay the same, but the stalls will be slightly better. The pavement will improve and we will remove some landscaping to widen the area,” said Jimi Billigmeier, Public Works project manager.
Traffic will likely be disturbed, Billigmeier said, but lanes are not likely to be shut down or permanently blocked. Those travelling through the area should look for alternative routes or expect delays.
“So far, it’s gone smoothly,” Billigmeier said.
