Summer reading clubs kick off Thursday

The Lodi Public Library will launch its summer reading clubs for children, teens and adults on Thursday. This year’s theme is “Reading By Design.” Read to win prizes! Readers can register and get a reading log at the reference desk. The library is at 201 W. Locust St., Lodi. For more information, visit library.lodi.gov.

Associates Networking Group to meet

The Associates Networking Group will meet from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Arbor Senior Living, in the upstairs conference room. An optional $5 lunch will be available.

Bristle Bots workshop at the library

Design and build your own tiny toothbrush robot! All materials will be provided. The workshop will be held from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Monday.

Learn about houseplants with Master Gardeners

The San Joaquin Master Gardeners will host a workshop on houseplants at the Lodi Public Library on Monday. The workshop will cover the basic needs of common plants and share how to make caring for houseplants easy.

The workshop will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Monday at the Lodi Public Library Community Room. The workshop is free, but space is limited. Call 209-953-6100 to register. The library is at 201 W. Locust St., Lodi.

Babysitting Basics workshop

Students ages 11 to 15 can learn the fundamentals of babysitting at a workshop from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. June 9 at Hutchins Street Square.

The class includes hands-on activities about handling safety issues and medical emergencies, age-appropriate challenges and attending to the needs of children of varying ages and abilities. Instructor Mary Shaw will also review subjects such as communication with parents and how to market oneself.
