Tail-waggers

Karma is an approximately 5-year-old, spayed pit bull terrier. She weighs approximately 60 pounds.

Karma is a very sweet and well-mannered girl, and she hasn’t met a toy that she didn’t take an instant liking to. She has been at the shelter since mid-March, patiently waiting for her forever family to come in and fall in love with her. She is very toy driven, so she is always eager to go outside and find a toy to claim, usually a tennis ball, and she’ll carry it around with her the entire time she’s outside.

Karma is very mellow in her interactions with people, and she’ll happily sit at your feet, letting you pet her — tennis ball still in her mouth. She very much enjoys going for a soak in the doggie pool, where she’ll roll around and enjoy cooling off in the shade. Karma knows the “sit” command, and walks well on the leash, but continued basic obedience training is recommended. If you’d like to give this sweet girl a loving forever home, please come in and meet her!

Jax is a 10-month-old spaniel/dachshund/terrier mix. His siblings are Freddy and Simba; Jax is the larger of the three, weighing in at 19.1 pounds. He has had all of his vaccinations, and has been dewormed, neutered and microchipped.

Jax and his siblings use their potty pads and were also used to using a doggie door. Jax is a complete love bug, and is happy and full of life. He walks very well on a leash and enjoys car rides. He is a calm, very sweet dog. He is used to cats and gets along with other dogs very well.

Jax will do best with a family that already has another dog. He is very social and will put his paws on your knee and then lay his head on you. He is loving and affectionate, and loves to play with toys. He will be a wonderful, loving companion.

Portrait compliments of 4 paws pet photography. Jax will be at Petco, Lodi today from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Velveteen Rabbit is a 3-yearold grey tabby cat. This precious girl has the sweetest heart and face. She came to Second Chance Kitty via the Escalon Animal Shelter in 2014 when she was just about 7 months old and on the euthanasia list.

She was fostered for some time, but had to be returned to Second Chance Kitty. Velvet is a loveable girl who wants attention a lot. If she could be petted all day, that’s what she would want. If you’re not looking for an attention-hungry kitty, then she isn’t for you.

She’d be happiest in a mature home with routines and residents who are home during the day. She may be shy at first when she gets to her new home, but she is quite the love bug. She gets along well with others, including well-behaved dogs, but tends to be picked on by other female cats because she is so passive.

Velvet is not particularly fond of younger children, but respectful children 10 and older would be fine. She’s a great kitty with an awesome personality and will make an outstanding addition to the family. Velvet deserves to live in the lap of someone who needs her as much as she needs them.

Velvet sometimes moves very quickly and can startle you at first if you’re not used to her, but she never causes harm, just moves quickly to be with you.

Like all Second Chance Kitty cats, Velvet is strictly indoor only. Velvet is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, deflead, FeLV/FIV negative and available for adoption.

Second Chance Kitty is a local nonprofit organization dedicated to helping cats, kittens and the occasional dog escape a life of abandonment, abuse and neglect.
