National Night Out seeking block party hosts

National Night Out is coming up on Aug. 1, and the City of Lodi is looking for volunteers interested in hosting block parties for the event. More than 90 parties celebrated the anti-crime event last year.

The purpose of National Night Out is to build community relationships to help prevent crime. Neighbors get together to meet one another, discuss concerns and brainstorm ways to fight crime.

The annual citywide party is part of Lodi’s Neighborhood Watch program, established in 1984.
