-

A great run came to an end for the Lodi Boosters of Boys/Girls Sports 9U all-star baseball team on Friday.

In its first game of the single-elimination portion of the Pacific Southwest Regional Tournament in West Valley City, Utah, Lodi mustered limited offense against Elk Grove, which posted a 7-2 win. Lodi had only two hits; one each from Juan Ulloa-Ceja and Eric Munoz. Ulloa-Ceja and Austin Job had an RBI each.

The loss in the regional tournament gives Lodi an 8-4 record in three tournaments that included this one, plus the Cal Ripken State and district tournaments.

Members of the baseball team, coming from six different Lodi BOBS squads, are: Noah Hufford, Drew Tetz, Seat Tetz, Haiden Edwards, Rylan Takahashi, Ulloa-Ceja, Andrew McEntire, Andrew Plath, Munoz, Job, Tanner Grove and Quinton Salustro. Jeff Takahashi was the manager, and assistant coaches were Kris Tetz and Dan Grove.

This year’s squad was the first Lodi all-star baseball team to play in a regional tournament since the summer of 1990.
