EILEEN CAMP

June 23, 1921 – August 4, 2017

-

Melba Eileen Camp was born on June 23, 1921 in Boothe, Arkansas to Omer and Maude Chitwood. Eileen was the oldest child, with two brothers and two sisters rounding out the family. She was raised with her siblings on their family farm in Hodgens, Oklahoma.

After graduating from high school, Eileen attended business college in Tulsa. It was in Tulsa that Eileen met George just prior his enlistment in the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1942. Immediately after the close of WWII, she joined George in Oakland, California where they were married on Christmas Day in 1946.

After seven years of marriage, George and Eileen welcomed their first son Lynn, followed a few years later by sons Don and Gene. In addition to raising her children, Eileen was known for the quilts she made for children, friends, as well as missionaries around the world. She was also known for her gardens of flowers as well as fruits and vegetables. Many a friend and neighbor enjoyed the fruits (and pies) of her labor. Eileen was always a tireless volunteer in the churches where she and George attended.

George went to be with the Lord on February 23, 2015 after sixty-eight years of marriage. Eileen followed George and went to be with the Lord on August 4, 2017, leaving behind a legacy of love and caring for others, her three children and spouses, her four grandchildren and spouses, one great–grandchild, and one on the way.

The memorial service is 2 PM, Saturday, August 12th, at Grace Church of Lockeford, 13301 Dawson Rd., Lockeford, CA.
