Changes made for Lodi, Tokay football games

Because of the triple-digit heat hitting the Northern California region, the Lodi and Tokay football teams are making changes for their Friday games.

Lodi, which opens the season against Sonora at the Grape Bowl, and Tokay at Bear Creek will start their games at 8 p.m.

The Sonora-Lodi frosh-soph contest has been moved forward to 6 p.m.

Varsity

At the Woodbridge Golf and Country Club on Tuesday, Liberty Ranch’s Jackie Schmidt hit an even par 37, but Lodi dominated in the non-league contest.

The Flames’ Sofia Demski finished the match at 42, followed by Desiree Vasquez at 49. Devin Franklin followed at 50, Catie Newport 55 and Allisa Yabumoto 55.

The Hawks’ scorers behind Schmidt were Brittany Cooper at 56, Jhonna Wise 64, Ally Huhyah 73 and Maddy Seiberling 74.

Brosnan Elrod had four goals for the Flames in Tuesday’s opener against Kimball

Hayden Lewis and Jack LeBaron followed with three goals each for Lodi (1-0), Ryan Westerterp two and Benton Peterson one. Goalie Tristan Gorham had 12 saves. Varsity girls

Elisa Grim lit up the game for the Flames with six goals in their season opener. Nicole Coon followed with two, and Kate Baltzer and Jackie Westerterp one each.

At the net, Lodi (1-0) had four saves by Kelsey Siria, and three from Hope Lorentzen.
