Q: Q: A: Vinewood Preschool celebrating 30 years
How many children currently attend the preschool?
Local preschool has prepared thousands of local students for kindergarten for three decades
Over the past 30 years, how many children have graduated from Vinewood into kindergarten?
We have graduated over 1,200 students is Debi Hyzdu, Doreen Compton, Pennie Jones, Diane Juarez, Alicia Valenzuela, Michelle Lewis, Mary Louise Sherrill, Valerie Grant, Evonne Shinn and Leonora Bechtold (preschool secretary).
Some of the teachers and teachers’ assistants are also alumnus. One of them, Alicia Juarez, attended Vinewood with Michael Valenzuela. They graduated from preschool classmates to spouses in a beautiful wedding last June at Wine & Roses, and she is now Alicia Valenzuela.
Vinewood has continued to innovate in order to remain on the leading edge of pre-kindergarten student preparation. In addition to reading, writing, math, art, music, and motor skills development, the children are provided many opportunities to enjoy the wonders of science.
Although academic skills are a necessity — the significance of learning social skills is a high priority outcome.
The children also get to enjoy learning how to cook, dress-up, and build with Legos and Play-DOH.
In addition, the children experience a structured circle time where they learn how to sit still and listen to stories read aloud, sing together, and learn about the Bible. They also attend a monthly chapel time. Kindermusik is an added bonus that is included in their activities each month.
