Marjorie Elaine Wait went to be with the Lord on August 10th 2017. Elaine passed away from natural causes at the age of 84. She was born Marjorie Elaine Hanson, December 16, 1932 in Swan Lake, South Dakota to Eugene and Bernice Hanson and later moved to Sioux Falls. Elaine married Donald James Wait in 1952. Don was in the Navy, stationed in Bremerton, Washington before being deployed on his second tour of duty in the Korean Conflict. Elaine moved back to Sioux Falls, South Dakota and worked in book keeping for the John Morell & Co.

When Don returned home they started their family with daughter, Jane, 1954, and son, John, 1956. Don and Elaine then moved to Chula Vista California where Don was in the reserves and worked at Rohr Inc. When Don’s time of service was complete they moved back to South Dakota and son Jeffrey was born in 1960. At this time Elaine was a domestic engineer, household CEO and director of child developmen­t. She took her position very seriously and was very good at it. In 1966 the family moved from Sioux Falls to Parker S. Dakota, only 35 miles away but afforded them country living. A 15 acre parcel in the middle of a section of farmland. In 1968 Don was killed in a private airplane crash. Don was 36, Elaine 35, Jane 13, John 12 and Jeff 7. Don’s parents were now in Arizona,

While Elaine’s parents had moved to Lodi in 1960. In the summer of 1968 Elaine moved The family to Lodi to be near her parents. Elaine went to work at the Lodi Book and Bible House and later became the store manager. Elaine was a very avid reader and was always wanting to learn more. She enrolled in Delta Collage and took Spanish, and Mexican history. She traveled to Mexico to explore history, culture and practice language. Shortly after that Elaine enrolled again, but this time it was Mandarin Chinese.

She toured with a group to see history, culture and practice language. Elaine was artistic and learned Calligraph­y. Elaine would do lettering and writing for friends and family while doing signs and posters for her work and store. Elaine was a hard worker and instilled those traits in her children. She lived in her home until June, 2014 and then went to Vienna Nursing and Rehab. We are so grateful for the care given to Elaine during her stay. Thank you to Ken and Diane Heffel, your staff member’s profession­alism was appreciate­d so much to keep Mom comfortabl­e these last few years. Elaine is survived by her brother
