Former Lodi area resident Rogerio (Roger) Marroquin Salazar passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at his home in Eagle Pass, TX after a nine-year battle with cancer.

Roger was born to Simon and Guadalupe Salazar in San Benito, TX on August 23, 1948. He and his family moved to the Lodi area around 1960 and as a boy he attended Alpine Elementary, Woodbridge Middle, and Lodi High Schools. Over the next 40 years, Roger would live in Lodi, Victor, Woodbridge and Acampo.

He worked for more than 25 years for Lodi Forklift Service and eventually owned his own mobile forklift repair operation before finally retiring to Eagle Pass, TX in 2007 and tending to his ranch across the border in Centinela, Mexico.

A humble and kind man, he loved his family, the outdoors, off-roading, hunting, traveling, and riding horses.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 49 years, Rosario (Vasques) Salazar of Eagle Pass, TX; his sons, Roger V. Salazar (Katrina) of Sacramento, David R. Salazar of Meyers, and Guillermo Vasques (Elysha) of Cincinnati, OH; his grandchild­ren, Joshua D. Salazar, Alexandra L. Salazar, Franky Verra-Vasques and Maximilian­o Vasques; his brothers Ascencion Salazar, Jesus Salazar, and Juan Salazar; his sisters Petra (Rodriguez), Rosa (Serna), Oralia (Jimenez), Gloria (Reyes), Maria (Garcia), Beatriz (Ramirez) and Inez (Gonzalez) and dozens of loving nieces, nephews, godsons, and goddaughte­rs. He is preceded in death by his brother, Teofilo Salazar, and his sister, Ramona (DeLeon).

A Memorial Service for Rogerio M. Salazar will be held on Friday, September 22, 2017 at 2:00 pm at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, 215 W. Walnut Street, Lodi, CA 95240.
