Flames fend off rally in the pool
The Lodi boys water polo team survived a late rally to defeat Oakdale 7-6 on Tuesday.
In the first half of the road match, Lodi led 4-0 at halftime. But after the third period, the host Mustangs trimmed the score to 4-3.
The Flames’ Benton Peterson had two goals in the final period that led to the win, and Brosnan Elrod added the final one.
“Oakdale gave us a really good game and made us earn the win,” said Lodi coach Trevor Taylor.
Alexander Elrod, along with Jack LeBaron and Brosnan Elrod, had a goal each in the contest.

Elisa Grim had five of the Flames’ goals in Tuesday’s non-league road contest. Nicole Coon, along with Kate Baltzer and Jackie Westerterp had one each for Lodi (6-2), which begins Tri-City Athletic Legaue action at Tracy today.

Hannah Wilson had six goals for the Flames, followed by Aiyana Evans with two and three assists. Madison DeCristofaro, Madison Rishwain, Julia Costa and Lilly Kim had one goal each. Goalie Hannah Combs had seven blocked shots and two steals. Frosh-soph boys
Victor Plunkett, Braden Acosta and Eli Kim led the Flames in goals, steals and assists in Tuesday’s win.
