Tigers make splash against the Bulldogs

Goalkeeper Jill Wagner blocked 12 shots as the Tokay High girls water polo team defeated Tracy 13-4 on the road on Tuesday.

Nicole Iturraran scored seven goals, along with four from Lizzie Macfarland. Katie McLain and Arianna Esparza had one goal each as Tokay improved to 5-3 overall, and 11 in the Tri-City Athletic League. Varsity boys

Hayden Lewis scored twice, and Alexander Elrod added a third in Tuesday’s loss. Adam Taylor had two saves and a steal in the cage, and Tristan Gorham blocked three shots.

Lodi trailed 3-0 at halftime of a defensive game, and tied it in the fourth quarter before Lincoln got the final goal. Lodi fell to 8-2 overall and 1-1 in TCAL play. Varsity girls

Elisa Grim had four goals for Lodi (1-1 in the TCAL, 7-3) in Tuesday’s match in Stockton. Jackie Westerterp had two and Kate Baltzer one.

Hope Lorentzen had seven saves for the Flames. Frosh-soph boys

Victor Plunkett scored six goals to lead the Flames on Tuesday, along with two each from Eli Kim, Seth Hillstrom and Ashton Devries. Bradon Acosta led in assists and steals, and Max Mortenson blocked a 5-meter shot. Frosh-soph girls

Sophie Smith and Mira Patino had two goals each in Tuesday’s victory, along with one each from Daina Miobel and Violet Young. Alanna Stoops had 13 saves in goal at Tokay improved to 7-1 overall and 2-0 in the TCAL.

Hannah Combs had six blocks in Tuesday’s loss, while Hannah Wilson had two goals, Aiyana Evans had three goals and a steal, Madison Rishwain had an assist and Julia Costa had a steal.

Eight of the nine matches were won in straight sets for Lodi (3-0 in the TCAL, 7-1 overall) in Tuesday’s road win in Tracy.

In the singles’ matches, Lodi No. 1 player Emma Canepa, followed by Nikki Barajas, Johnna Schroeder, Mia Carouba and Jenna Dougherty won in two sets.

The Flames’ doubles teams of Alyssa Mataga/Kaylee Mataga and Franchesic­a Petersen/Jenna Mulrooney won in two games as well. The No. 3 team of Megan Kim and Julia Archibeque posted a 6-3, 5-7, 10-7 win over West’s Danielli Chan/Pawandeep Panaich.

The Tigers lost all of their singles and doubles matches in straight sets. Tokay is 0-3 in the TCAL.

Frankie Tucker had 13 assists and two blocked shots for Elliot (1-4 in the Central California Athletic Alliance, 1-5), which lost 25-5, 25-9, 25-5 in Tuesday’s match in Merced.

Taylor Lewis had five kills for the Eagles, while teammates Kayleigh Schrader and Lexi Juelch had three kills each.

GOLF

Hole-in-one Fred Hague hit a hole-in-one at Micke Grove on Tuesday, draining the 128-yard shot at the fifth hole with an 8-iron. Witnesses included Bill Beech, Norm Kaseman and Bill Brinson.
