Songwriter contest coming to Lodi
Local residents are invited to compete in La La Lodi, the Middle C’s first songwriting contest. Winners will have the chance to have their songs professionally recorded and mastered at the Press Recording Studio.
Participants must prepare two original songs for voice and one instrument of the songwriters’ choice. There will be two rounds, with judges selecting contestants from the first round to compete in the second.
The first and second runners up will also receive prizes.
The deadline to enter the contest is Oct. 18, and the contestant fee is $25. For more information, visit
Native Sons of the Golden West tri-tip dinner
The Native Sons of the Golden West’s Stockton chapter invites area residents to enjoy a tri-tip dinner on Oct. 6, along with music provided by a DJ and a raffle.

Parkinson’s disease support group meeting
A Parkinson’s disease support group for patients and caregivers will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the north end of Temple Baptist Church, near the Tokay Street gate.

Medicare workshop at Hutchins Street Square
The University of the Pacific Pharmacy School in Stockton will host a Medicare event at Hutchins Street Square on Oct. 19.
Guests can review their Medicare Part D Plan to see if their medication costs can be lowered, as well as review their medications to ensure that they are safe to take together.
The event will also include free health screenings of blood pressure, bone density, cholesterol, diabetes, mental health, falls risk assessment and asthma/COPD, along with flu vaccinations.
