Look­ing to keep its SacJoaquin Sec­tion play­off hopes alive, the El­liot Chris­tian High vol­ley­ball team went the dis­tance against Ven­ture Academy in Wed­nes­day’s Cen­tral Cal­i­for­nia Ath­letic Al­liance con­test in­side the Ea­gles’ gym.

But the Ea­gles came up short, as Ven­ture Academy posted the win in five games; the fi­nal scores were 17-25, 2519, 19-25, 25-18, 15-12.

Frankie Tucker, who is clos­ing in on the El­liot Chris­tian vol­ley­ball pro­gram’s record in as­sists at 1,000, had 36 against Ven­ture Academy, plus five kills and four aces. Bailey Cor­re­ria, a ju­nior who trans­ferred to El­liot from Lodi High over the sum­mer, had 19 kills and six digs. Cor­re­ria be­came el­i­gi­ble to play last week after ob­serv­ing the sec­tion’s 30-day sit out trans­fer pol­icy.

Other lead­ers for El­liot (4-6 in the CCAA, 4-7) were Kayleigh Schrader with 14 kills and four digs, and Lexie Juelch four digs and three as­sists.

Cur­rently, El­liot is now in fifth place be­hind Ven­ture Academy (5-5 in the CCAA). Ac­cord­ing to the sec­tion’s web­site — cif­sjs.org — the CCAA will send four teams into the play­offs.

In Tues­day’s road con­test in Tracy, the Ea­gles trailed 20 be­fore win­ning the fi­nal three sets; the fi­nal scores were 12-25, 20-25, 25-9, 25-20, 15-7.

Tucker had 15 as­sists and two aces for the Ea­gles. Schrader had six kills, four as­sists and five aces. Cor­re­ria had six kills and four aces.
