Lodi girls ten­nis blanks West

The Lodi High girls ten­nis team con­tin­ued its win­ning ways on Thurs­day, knock­ing out West 9-0 in a Tri-City Ath­letic League road con­test.

Win­ning in straight sets for all five sin­gles play­ers for Lodi (6-1 in the TCAL, 12-2), start­ing with No. 1 player Emma Canepa. Nikki Bara­jas, the Flames No. 2 player, fol­lowed, along with Johnna Schroeder, Gabi Borra and Mia Carouba.

In the dou­bles’ matches, Lodi’s No. 2 team of CeCe Chin­chi­olo-Me­gan Kim beat West’s Aria Jac­into-Je­hanna Roldan in three sets 6-4, 2-6, 10-8. The Flames’ No. 1 squad of sis­ters Alyssa and Kaylee Mataga, and No. 3’s Ju­lia Sher­man-Emily John­son won in straight sets.

Addi Stone went three sets for Tokay (0-8 in the TCAL, 3-10) in Thurs­day’s TCAL home match, be­fore los­ing a tough one to the Tro­jans’ Brynne Black 5-7, 6-7 (4-7), 10-6.

Var­sity boys

WATER POLO

Jack Le­Baron scored three goals to help the Flames im­prove to 12-3 over­all, and 5-3 in the TCAL with Thurs­day’s vic­tory.

Bros­non El­rod, Ben­ton Peter­son, Alexan­der El­rod and Vic­tor Plun­kett had one goal each, while Adam Tay­lor had nine saves.

Lodi will play in the Je­suit Classic In­vi­ta­tional over the week­end be­fore host­ing West on Tues­day. Var­sity girls Elisa Grim scored five goals and Hope Lorentzen blocked nine shots to help Lodi im­prove to 10-5 over­all, and 4-3 in the TCAL.

Jackie Westert­erp scored three goals, along with two from El­iz­a­beth Decko and one each from Ni­cole Coon and Kate Baltzer.

Lodi was set to play this week­end in the James Lo­gan Tour­na­ment in Union City, but it has been post­poned due to smoke from the fires in the Bay Area. It will be played Oct. 20 and 21. Frosh-soph boys

The Flames took their first loss in league play on Thurs­day, de­spite over­com­ing a 3-1 deficit to tie the game 4-4. Ash­ton DeVries and Seth Hill­strom had two goals each, while Tucker Ut­ley had the other. Ryan En­gle led the Flames in steals.

Nate Bon­ham had five goals for Tokay in Thurs­day’s home game. Joey Del Barba and Ryan Means had three each, Eric Dr San­ti­ago had two, and Mad­den West­land, Cy­las Ri­ley and Owen Canestrino one each. Frosh-soph girls

Tailiea Patino had three goals for Tokay. So­phie Smith fol­lowed with two goals, and Vi­o­let Young and Mira Ro­driguez had one each.

Fresh­men

FOOT­BALL

Isaac Bishop ran in a 7-yard touch­down and fin­ished with 84 rush­ing yards, but it was Lodi’s only score in Thurs­day’s loss. Bishop also com­pleted four passes for 55 yards. Joel Roque had 10 tack­les on de­fense, along with nine from Bishop and two sacks from Sam Car­pen­ter.
