Tracy High needed just a minute to score its first touchdown on Tokay on Friday, and the Bulldogs didn’t let up from there, scoring often in a 62-0 rout in a Tri-City Athletic League football game.

Tracy quarterback Logan Fife threw three touchdowns in the first quarter — a 25-yard strike to Anthony Buckhanan, a 7-yard score to Xavier Moore and a 19-yarder to Moore — and the Bulldogs defense added two more on a recovery of a fumbled snap in the end zone, followed by a fumble recovery on a dropped backward screen pass. Tracy led 34-0 after the first quarter.

Fife threw two more touchdown passes in the first half, hitting Carlos Vasquez from 20 yards out and finding another receiver form 8 yards, before sitting the second half.

Vasquez added a punt return for a touchdown to give Tracy a score in all three phases of the game.

The only score of the second half was a 25-yard touchdown pass from backup quarterback Ethan Bejines to Zachary Guillen.

Tokay turned the ball over three times in the first quarter, and another one in the second that helped the Bulldogs score often.

“We’re digging ourselves holes

early,” said Tokay coach Michael Holst. “We have to protect the ball.”

The Tigers were without the services of running back Cory Glasgow, who injured his right toes against McNair in a non-league game at the Grape Bowl last month.

Tokay (2-5, 0-2 in the TCAL) will face Lincoln (4-3, 2-0) at the Grape Bowl next Friday. Lincoln shut out Lodi 56-0.

El Dorado 49, Liberty Ranch 48

In a Sierra Valley Conference game on the Erv Hatzenbuhler Field at Warrior Stadium, also on Friday, Liberty Ranch (1-1 in the SVC, 2-5) rallied from a 33-20 at halftime, then traded touchdowns with El Dorado (2-0 in the SVC, 5-2) in the fourth quarter.

After taking a 48-41 lead, the Hawks had the ball but turned it over. The visiting Cougars scored on their next offensive possession that proved to be the difference.

Next Friday, Liberty Ranch will host Rosemont (3-4, 1-1 SVC). Rosemont took down Galt High 35-6 on Friday after building a 21-6 halftime lead.

Galt (3-4, 0-2 SVC) play at Union Mine (2-5, 0-2 SVC) next Friday.
