Rostomily 75th anniversary
Wayne and Roberta Rostomily of Albany, Ore., recently celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary on Oct. 3.
As a young wartime couple they eloped to Reno, Nev., in a car with borrowed tires landing with a flat tire right in front of the Reno courthouse.
They were married by the pastor in the First Methodist Church with his wife acting as the witness.
Wayne is a veteran of the Second World War and served with Patton’s 3rd Army in the European Theater from the Battle of the Bulge until the end of the European conflict.
Mr. and Mrs. Rostomily have lived their married life in California, Montana, and Oregon. Wayne is a retired CPA and Roberta is a retired customer relations specialist.
They are the parents of two children: Gerrie (BJ) Jeske and Bill Rostomily. They have two granddaughters: Julie Leary and Jonna Michelson and five great-grandchildren: Danny, Dylan, Joey, Devin, and Mae-all of Missoula, Mont.
AAUW hosts speaker on art history and feminism at Lodi Public Library
The Lodi Chapter of the American Association of University Women will host a presentation on feminism and women in art history by University of the Pacific Curator Lisa Cooperman today in the Lodi Public Library’s Community Room.
A meet-and-greet begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by the AAUW’s general meeting at 6 p.m. and Cooperman’s presentation at 6:40 p.m.

Local students earn scholarships
The Central California Safety Council has awarded $1,000 scholarships to local engineering students Emma Lugo, Ashley Rocco and Hina Chaudhry.
Emma Lugo of Lodi is a senior at University of California, Merced studying mechanical engineering; Ashley Rocco of Stockton is a sophomore at University of the Pacific, also studying mechanical engineering; and Hina Chaudhry of Lodi is a senior in Pacific’s blended 5-year program studying engineering management with a master’s degree in civil engineering.

NAMI holding Peer to Peer program in Stockton
NAMI San Joaquin County, the local organization of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, will sponsor its NAMI Peer to Peer Education Program beginning Monday in Stockton.
The course is designed for adults living with mental health challenges and provides an educational setting focused on recovery that offers respect, understanding and encouragement.
The 10-session course is held twice a week for 2 hours per session, and is taught by trained mentors living in recovery.
The course is free and open to the public. It will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays and Fridays from Monday through Nov. 16 in Conference Room B at 1212 N. California St., Stockton.

County behavioral health group to meet in Lodi
Residents of Lodi, Lockeford and surrounding areas are invited to the San Joaquin County Behavioral Health Board general meeting to be held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Lodi Public Library.
The October agenda will include a presentation by the Lodi Behavioral Health Clinic, which serves the Lodi area, Lockeford and surrounding areas. Meetings provide local residents with information regarding services available through the Behavioral Health Services Clinic in this area.

Nostalgic sock hop with “Elvis”
The American Legion Auxiliary, Lodi Unit 22, will introduce Jeremy Elvis Pearce at a nostalgic sock hop at 7 p.m. on Friday at the American Legion Hall.
Party-goers are invited to wear 50’s-style clothing for a costume contest, and, of course, socks for dancing. root beer and orange soda floats will be provided free.
