Free workshop at Delta Tree Farms Nursery

Christie Johnson, the owner of Milkweed Garden Designs and an employee of Delta Tree Farms, will host the free workshop “Gardening With Natives: Discover the Power of California Native Plants in Your Yard and Garden.”

The workshop will run from 10 a.m. to noon, and will include refreshmen­ts and a raffle. Delta Tree Farms is at 12900 N. Lower Sacramento Road, Lodi. The two will share their memories.

Anyone else who has memories or photos from the Dust Bowl is invited to share.

The public is invited to this free program, and refreshmen­ts will be served. The program will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Hutchins Street Square Senior Center, 125 S. Hutchins St.

El Concilio to hold annual San Joaquin Gala

El Concilio has grown to become the Central Valley’s largest Latino communityb­ased service organizati­on. It assists more than 25,000 people each year, regardless of ethnicity, race or immigratio­n status.

The Gala will honor Assemblywo­man Susan Eggman, Andy Prokop, Comerciant­es Unidos and Natala Orfanos.

Individual tickets are $150, while tables for 10 are $1,500. Corporate sponsorshi­ps are also available.
