Lodi planners to consider new hotel, Lodi Beer expansion

The Lodi Planning Commission is set to review permit and site approval requests for Fairfield Inn and Suites By Marriott and an expansion of the Lodi Beer Company during its meeting tonight at 7 p.m. in Carnegie Forum.

“I think, overall, the planning commission on Wednesday will be reviewing two really good projects for the community,” Lodi City Planner Craig Hoffman said. “We’re really looking forward to both of these items.”

According to Hoffman, the Fairfield Inn will be three stories tall and about 42,000 square feet. The hotel will include 72 rooms along with meeting rooms, a hotel market and a breakfast bar. The hotel will also have an event center.

“If somebody was looking to have a reception or an event they would able to have it at that hotel, so that’s a big deal,” Hoffman said. “It is bringing in something new to the community that we don’t have.”

The hotel will be located at 232 and 262 Rocky Lane within Phase 3 of the Reynolds Ranch commercial development. “It’s the third hotel that we’ve had be proposed to be constructed in Lodi in the last two years,” Hoffman said. “Fairfield by Marriott is a known brand that people like to stay at that hotel. By having that hotel with that brand in town, you’re going to stop people from going elsewhere ... So, you’re keeping those tax dollars in the community.”

Lodi Beer Company, located at 105 S. School St., is looking to expand its business into the adjacent space formerly occupied by Textures Salon. The additional space will be used for their fermentation vessels, a new host and hostess area, a small retail area, and additional restaurant seating.

“Lodi Beer is a cornerstone business in the Downtown. They’re expanding the amount of beer that they can produce. They are providing a new entry. They’re doing facade improvements. It’s a big deal,” Hoffman said. “It’s great what we’ve seen in the Downtown . ... When you have a popular business that is able to expand, that’s a sign of good things going on in the Downtown. So we’re very excited about this project.”
