In loving memory of James Frederick Jackson, 82, of Galt, California, who passed away peacefully at home on October 21, 2017 after a short battle with cancer. He was born in Peoria, Ill. on June 19, 1935. He grew up there but lived most of his adult life in Salinas and then Galt, CA.

He always went by, “Fred” and spent much of his retirement years volunteeri­ng for the Lodi, CA PAL program and then the Galt, CA CAPSs program. Fred was always active in police activities and has many friends on the force.

Fred is survived by his girlfriend, Carolyn Herseth of Galt, CA, his niece, Michelin Van Lear, (as well as Karl, her husband, and their children) of Salinas, CA. Fred is also survived by his niece, Vicky Morgan, his nephews, Ronnie Shane Burnette, and many various other nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews, who all adored Fred.

Preceding Fred in death were his parents, Loren and Mabel Jackson, sisters Velma, Dorothy, and Beatrice, as well as his brother Robert. Also preceding Fred in death were his first wife, Mickey Jackson and his Second wife, Carolyn Jackson.

Fred was a man who had a good heart and many close friends who will all miss him very much. Fred had no children but treated his nephews and nieces as if they were his own.

Services will be Saturday, Oct. 28, at 11 am at Horizon Church in Galt.In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Galt CAPS program at 455 Industrial Drive, Galt, CA 95632 or a local animal shelter.
