Shrine Club raises money for hospital
The Tokay Shrine Club Ladies Auxiliary recently held a lasagna dinner fundraiser at the Woodbridge Masonic Center. The ladies served over 80 people with several people having to-go meals. The funds raised will go to the Shriners Children’s Hospital in Sacramento benefiting their Transportation Fund.
The fund supports transporting children to Sacramento for their hospital visits. Volunteer drivers transport patients throughout Northern California.
The transportation van stationed in Lodi transports all San Joaquin County patients.
The ladies working the fundraiser include Auxiliary President Mary Weese, Margaret Leutholtz, Donna Beckman, Carol Coleman, Beverley Griffith, Marni Foland, Carolyn Peoples, Vicki Lake, Sue O’Mara and Dorothy Crystal.
Gerry Schook and Gigi West conducted an opportunity drawing where many of the attendee’s won nice prizes. Gerry also donated a 1966 Schwinn Breeze bicycle which was restored to its original condition, which was raffled.
The Shriners Hospital in Sacramento treats all children at no charge to the family.
The hospital treats orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, and cleft lip conditions.
Lockeford Municipal Advisory Council hosts food drive for vets
The Lockeford Municipal Advisory Council’s Veteran’s Food Drive, collecting Thanksgiving food for veterans, will take place until Monday, Nov. 13 at Sand Harmon’s house.

ABCD: Love Your Block seeking projects for grants
The ABCD: Love Your Block program is offering grants of up to for projects to improve Lodi’s Heritage District, sponsored by the Lodi Chamber of Commerce and the City of Lodi, and will hold classes on Saturday and Sunday for those interested in getting involved.
The Saturday class will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lodi Boys and Girls Club, located at 275 Poplar St., Lodi. Lunch will be provided.
The Sunday class will take place from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Lodi Grape Festival Grounds, located at 413 E. Lockeford St., Lodi. Refreshments will be served.

Family Movie Party at Emanuel Lutheran
Families are invited to join Emanuel Lutheran Church for a Family Movie Party next Sunday.
The monthly breakfast of the Rooster Tails Fishing Club will be held on Nov. 17 at the Auburn Elks Lodge, 195 Pine St., Auburn.
This event is open to club members, spouses, and non-member guests. Doors to the lodge will open at 7 a.m. to share fresh brewed coffee. A $13 wide-selection buffet breakfast is served at 8 a.m., followed by the 9 a.m. guest speaker, Tom Reeves of Bilt to Bite Lures, who will share how wooden lures are made and the effective use of them to score a wall-hanger trophy fish. Grand Foundation looking for student filmmakers
High school and college students are invited to create and submit short films to the Grand Foundation’s Student Film Fest. Films should be 3 to 15 minutes long, and can earn prizes of up to $1,000.
The deadline to enter a film is Jan. 5 with earlybird submission on Dec. 15. Earlybird films receive a $10 discount on the $30 submission fee. The film festival will be held March 17 at the Grand Theatre in Tracy.
