Alva Dean Phelps, of Galt, passed away on Novem­ber 3, 2017, at the age of 80. Alva was born in Lit­tle Rock, Arkansas on March 6, 1937, to James Alva and Mar­ion Melice (Mel­ton) Mo­ran. Alva was a very lov­ing and car­ing per­son who al­ways had a smile on her face. Af­ter rais­ing four boys, she worked as a ve­teri­nary re­cep­tion­ist in Wal­nut Creek, CA for 19 years, and had a spe­cial fond­ness for York­shire Ter­ri­ers. Alva was a won­der­ful home­maker. She en­joyed watch­ing Gi­ants base­ball and was a “SAN FRAN­CISCO GI­ANTS GRANDMA GAMER BABE.” She also liked arts and crafts, shop­ping, and Elvis Pres­ley, who kissed her twice at a con­cert. An­other en­joy­ment was go­ing to lunch when her best friend, Colleen, would come to visit. Alva is sur­vived by her sons, Randy Per­rin, Chris Per­rin, Tim Per­rin, and Rick (Endy) Phelps, and two grand­sons. She was pre­ceded in death by her mother, Mar­ion Ratto. There are no ser­vices, and in lieu of flow­ers, do­na­tions may be made to the lo­cal An­i­mal Shel­ter/ SPCA.
