Nothing affordable about health care

-

Editor: Affordable Health Care Act?

I’m spending $782 per month for a lousy bottom of the barrel “Bronze Plan.” I put off opening what I knew was bad news from my health insurance company until yesterday. I was shocked which instantly turned to intense anger over the 46 percent price increase.

This is in addition to a substantial reduction of benefits provided and a $5,500 deductible. Please note that price is for one healthy 62year-old male non-smoker. It does not include my family, just me. As a self-employed person I have only two choices for health insurance: Anthem Blue Cross or Kaiser. I know many of you will read this and say to yourself “that's not true, my employer has ABC or 123 insurance company.”

Just know that there are only two that have been writing insurance for individuals, not group policies. Also, Anthem stopped writing insurance in almost 70 percent of California for 2018, and for 2019 who knows if they will be around at all.

So now I have some questions: First, for everyone that supported the morons that created this mess. Have you had enough? Do you feel lied to and betrayed? For Congressman Jerry McNerney, how can you look in the mirror and shave in the morning knowing that you have failed on a level that has never been experienced in the entire history of the United States?

What's even worse is that you are not interested in fixing this mess you have created. So next year if the rate is increased by another 46 percent it will cost me $1,142 and the year after is could be $1,667. No one really knows. Will this ever end?

All of this hits me at a time in my life when I should be and really need to be saving that additional $500 per month I am now spending for insurance. Last question: Where is the rage? MICHAEL WATSON Woodbridge
