Hawks beat Tigers at Lady Warriors Classic

The Liberty Ranch girls basketball team rebounded from a loss to River City on the opening night of the Galt Lady Warriors Classic to defeat Tokay 60-37 on Friday.

Isabel Moore led the Hawks with 14 points along with four rebounds, while Tori Azevedo had 11 points, Olivia Nelson had nine, Anjolina Garcia had seven points, three steals and three assists, Ashley Kirbyson had five points and five rebounds, Briley Jordet had four points, three rebounds and two steals, Giovanna Parino had four points, six rebounds and four steals, Kloey Calkins had two points, seven rebounds, two steals, two assists and two blocks and Shelby Madruga had two points.

Anessa Spradley led the Tigers with 19 points, and Frankie Newbanks added six.

BOYS BASKETBALL

The Flames had the game tied with 57 seconds remaining, but a turnover put Elk Grove up for good in the Elk Grove Tournament.

Jaylin Reed led the Flames with 33 points, along with 11 from Chase Shafter, eight from Derek Lamb, three from Luis Perez and two from Marcel Roberts. Frosh-soph

Max Graves scored seven points to lead the Flames in Friday’s loss, along with six from Isaac Bishop, four each from Frank Vega, Gabe Biagioni and Andres Zavala, two each from Matt Marini, Jonathan Sanchez and Hayden Hildenbran­d and one each from Tyler Daley and Jason Berry.

Ashlee Toy led the Flames in Friday’s loss in the West Tournament with six points, along with five each from Shelby Yarbrough and Patirica Coffaro, two each from Katrina Chang and Savannah Head and one from McKenzy Perkins.

Lodi (1-2) will play for third place today at 2 p.m.

GIRLS SOCCER

The Flames, with multiple starters out due to injuries and illness, gave up a goal at the end of the first half, and another late in the second of Friday’s loss. Lodi was down to freshmen at goalkeeper, forward and midfielder, and sophomores at outside back and middle back.

Freshman goalkeeper Reese Odell finished with four saves.
