JANET ENGLISH SCHULZ
Janet Schulz, age 86, passed away November 28 in her home surrounded by family.
Janet was born on August 12, 1931 in Alba, Texas in the same family home where her beloved daddy, Joseph Clifton English, was born. She attended Texas Christian University and worked as a secretary at Perrin Air Force Base in Sherman Texas. It was there that she met her true love, Gordon Robert Schulz, who was serving in the Air Force. They would be celebrating 64 loving wonderful years of marriage this December 4.
A devoted loving mother to her daughters, LeAnn Barclay (son-in-law, Jack Barclay) of Galt, and Peggy (son-in-law Joe Deulloa) of Davis and grandmother to Joseph Barclay, age 24, and Owen Lingbloom, age 16, she gave everything to her family. In addition to ensuring that her daughters had a wide variety of lessons and activities, she volunteered in many capacities.
She was a teacher for Little Methodist Preschool, PTA President of Needham School, room mother for many classes, Camp Fire Leader (where she hosted and led 16+ girls in her home weekly), advisor for the Grapevine School Newspaper at Vinewood Elementary School, and Sunday school teacher at the church where she raised her family, the First United Methodist Church of Lodi. Beyond all of those things, she provided a loving home where everyone felt welcomed and friends often stayed and her daughters felt blessed with a wonderful childhood and family life.
Writing and photography were Janet’s passions. She spent many years writing and revising her book, Depot Days: My Cicada Summer- A Memoir With a Mission, which was recently published on Amazon. Always helping others, she hoped to reach out to families suffering from mental illness. In 1991, she also wrote a children’s book, Little Rocky’s True Adventures. In addition many notes and letters Janet was Famous for writing, her family’s home is filled with memories from the countless photos she took so they could remember all of life’s precious moments.
Many years of her life, Janet worked as a secretary in various places including: Emile R. Jardine CPA, Heather, Sanguinetti, Caminata, and Sakai CPAs, Lodi District Chamber of Commerce (also feature writer and photographer), and the creator of Lodi Conference Center and Visitor’s Bureau community calendar.
She is preceded in death by her daddy, Joseph Clifton English, mother,
Laura Oza English, sister, Gaynell Claunch, and brother, Alton English.
Famous for her delicious home-baked desserts she prepared and always made everyone feel welcomed with, there will be a dessert reception and celebration of her life on December 16 at 3:30 in the First United
