Hawks Ullrich advances at Foot Locker West

Liberty Ranch’s Collin Ullrich placed sixth in the Foot Locker Cross Country Championsh­ip West Regional on Saturday at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut.

The Hawk senior completed the 5-kilometer run in 15 minutes, 45.4 seconds, less than a second behind the runner ahead of him, and less than seven second behind the winner, Kashon Harrison of Fruitland, N.M.

The top 10 runners in the boys and girls races move on to compete against other regions at teh Foot Locker Cross Country Championsh­ips National Finals at Balboa Park in San Diego on Dec. 9.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Max Starkovich led the Tigers with 12 points as the Tigers dispatched the Bobcats to improve to 1-1. Victor Nateras had nine points, six assists and four rebounds, Chase Ivey had eight points and eight rebounds, Adam Johnson had six points, Austyn Reiswig and Diego Ramirez had four points each, Brian Solari had three, Daniel Penaflo had two and Hamad Arif had one.

The Hawks trailed early, but rebounded in the second quarter to run away with Saturday’s nonconfere­nce game and improve to 20.

Jaime Gonzalez led Liberty Ranch with 23 pooints, followed by Chandler Garcia with 13, Jalen Patterson with 11 and Nick Edwards with nine.

An energetic Lodi squad controled the game throughout in the finale of the Elk Grove Tournament, led by Jaylin Reed’s 25 points. Colton Stout was 4-for-5 on 3-pointers on his way to 14 points, a total which was matched by Derek Lamb.

Chase Shafter, Jeff Kenkel, Marcel Roberts and Matt Nickel had four points each, and Naweed Kahn and Joey Padilla had two each.

Dylan McColley led the Titans with 28 points in Monday’s loss, followed by six from Andre Dangan, five from Adam Gates, four from Nate Narbarte, three from Andrew Chan Kuo and two each from Alex Nevis, Jacob Ortiz, Adan Quezada and Brian Laughlin. Freshmen

Lodi’s Max Graves was named to the AllTournam­ent team in the Del Campo Tournament following Saturday’s win. Isaac Bishop led the Flames with 28 points and 12 rebounds, Stephen Casciaro had eight points, Graves had seven points and seven assists, Andres Zavalahad four points, Matt Marini had three, Frank Vega and Jason berry had two each and Gabe Biagioni and Vinny Montgomery had one each.

Simon Medeiros led the Tigers with 13 points and five steals in Saturday’s finale of the Weston Ranch Tournament. Mia Misasi had nine points and five steals, Samantha Gonzales had two points, 10 rebounds and six steals, Aniyah Dean had five points and nine rebounds, Rose Stoops had six points, Micaela Algoso had five points, Sunna Khan had four, kendal Badano had three and Amara Charles had one.

In Friday’s 46-37 loss to host Weston Ranch, Misasi led the Tigers with 13 points, while Stoops had eight points and eight rebounds, and Dean had six points and 10 rebounds. Medeiros added six points, while Gonzales and Khan had two points each.

Ashlee Toy scored 30 points to lead the Flames’ rout in the West Tournament, along with 12 from Shelby Yarbrough and three each from Patricia Coffaro, Hannah Wilson and Savannah Head. Toy made the all-tournament teams as Lodi won the third-place trophy.

Enrique Yepez scored scored Lodi’s only goal, with the assist froming from Luis Sandoval. Adolfo Sanchez, Fernando Villalon and Alex Oseguera had solid games for the Flames.

Lodi’s Ben Bishop went 3-1 to place third in the heavyweigh­t division on Saturday, while Caleb Byrd (170 pounds) and Livio Mamola (220) each went 4-1 to place fourth in their divisions.

Tokay’s Nick Nguyen went 1-1 at 113 pounds, and Seth Chaney went 3-1 at 126 pounds, both to capture second place and help the Tigers place fifth out of 37 teams. Trenton Edalgo (138) went 4-1 to place third, Luke Millan (170) went 3-2 for fourth and Jame McClain (heavyweigh­t) went 3-2 for fifth place.
