Hawks run past the Bruins

The Liberty Ranch High boys basketball team improved to 4-0 with an 88-54 win over Riverbank on Thursday night.

In the first quarter, the Hawks flew to an 18-8 lead over the host Bruins, and led 44-24 at halftime.

Three Liberty Ranch players scored in double figures; Jalen Patterson had 19 points, followed by Chandler Garcia at 18 and Isaac Padilla 14. Jayden Baroni and Jaime Gonzalez had nine points each.

On the second day of The McDonald’s Classic at Edison High, Elliot (2-0) battled for its win without the services of guard Nate Bond, who fouled out at the beginning of the fourth quarter.

Cody Doell had a double-double for the Eagles at 26 points and 19 rebounds. Bond finished with 21 points.. Nick Figueroa had six points for the Eagles, followed by Patrick Haynes with four, Logan Kottinger and Ian Maigaon three points each. Maigaon had seven assists.

Today at 6:30 p.m., Elliot will play Weston Ranch at Edison High. The winner of this contest will play for the tournament title on Saturday.

Jaylin Reed scored 21 of his game-high 35 points in the fourth quarter for Lodi in Thursday’s game, also at The McDonald’s Classic at Edison High.

There were three Flames who scored in double figures, along with Reed; Colton Stout had 13 points and Matt Nickel 12. Derek Lamb finished with seven points, Marcel Roberts four, Chase Shafter three and Jordan Isbill two.

Today at 6:30 p.m. at Weston Ranch, Lodi takes on the Cordova-Chavez winner from Thursday. Today’s winner would play for the consolatio­n championsh­ip at Edison on Saturday. Frosh-soph

Nathan Shoup had 10 points for Lodi in Thursday’s game, followed by Andrew Pappas with nine. Parker Alcoriza had eight points, David King seven and Julius Latteri, Logan Stout and Trevor Jackson four each, Ben Graves three and Irvil Delacruz two. Freshmen

Isaac Bishop had 25 points and 10 rebounds for Lodi. Max Graves followed with 18 points, Jason Berry 12, Frank Vega four, Matt Marini, Vinny Montgomery, Tyler Daley and Gabe Biagioni two each and Stephano Casciaro one.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Playing on the first day of the Linden Tournament, Annessa Spardley had 21 points and Chloe Boron-Trotter had 16 for Tokay, which plays Liberty Ranch in the winner’s bracket today at 6:30 p.m. Tokay’s other scorers were Katie Price with nine points and Frankie Newbanks six points.

Ashley Kirkbyson had 17 points and teammate Anjolina Garcia had 12 points for Liberty Ranch, which was also playing its first game at the Linden Tournament. Briley Jordet and Tori Azevedo had seven points each for the Hawks. Frosh-soph

Filling in as a last second opponent at the Lodi Tournament, Ashlee Toy led the Flames with six points. Ashley Vasquez and McKenzy Perkins had five points each, and Patricia Cossaro and Savannah Head two each.

Today at 5 p.m. at The Inferno, Lodi plays El Captain in a loser’s bracket game.

Mia Misasi had 11 points for Tokay (3-4), followed by Jackie Enciso with nine points and nine steals. Samantha Gonzalez and Simone Medeiros had seven points each, plus six steals each, and Rose Stoops seven points. Micaela Algoso finished with three points and Sunna Khan two. Varsity boys

Luis Sandoval and Enrique Yepez had a goal each for Lodi. Yepez also had an assist. Playing a good game for the Flames were Elwin Ramirez, Richard Herrera and Marco Orejel.

Goalie Luis Alvarado had four saves for Tokay (2-0-2), which tied its second game in three days; the Tigers and Liberty Ranch (3-1-1) tied 2-2 at the Grape Bowl on Tuesday.

Jose Contreras had a goal and an assist for Tokay (4-0). Three Tigers also scored in Brandon Razo, Edurado Guillen and Rigo Godoy. Goalie Jorge Quiroz had six saves.

WRESTLING

On Wednesday at The Inferno, Lodi pinned down victories in four matches.

Leading the way for the Flames were Anna Rodriguez (120-pounds), who won by pin in 36 seconds, followed by Brittney Machon (130) also winning by pin at 1:14. Krissie Chappell (160) needed only 15 seconds to record a pin, and Hannah Wooldridge (170) made it a sweep with a victory by pin in the first round.
