DORA “DODIE” LAHR

January 12, 1939 – December 19, 2017

Dora “Dodie” Lahr passed away at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 of natural causes. She was 78.

She was born on January 12, 1939 in San Antonio, TX to Andrew J. and Lottie Watkins Davis.

Dodie graduated from Somerset High School in Somerset, Texas, where she was a Salutatorian. She attended Delta College in Stockton, CA. She worked as an Office Manager for International Horseshoe Co. (Multi Products) in Lockeford, CA for 30 years, retiring in 2001.

Dodie married Gaylen “Buzz” Trasamar in 1957 in San Antonio; they later divorced. She then married Gerald “Jerry” Lahr in 1966.

She was a past member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Lodi, CA. She was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary of Lodi, CA, since 1971, where she served as President from 1977-78. She enjoyed reading and RV traveling.

Dodie is survived by her Husband Gerald “Jerry” Lahr, Waterloo, IA; sons Gaylen “Bret” (Sue) Trasamar, Waterloo, IA, Brian (Sharon) Trasamar, Raleigh, NC, Dennis (Cassie) Lahr, Lodi, CA, Bret (Rosa) Lahr, Stockton, CA and her daughter Brenda (Curt) Cummer, Viroqua, WI. Her five grandchildren Samantha Lahr, Brittany Lahr, Joshua Lahr, Shane Loney and Erik Loney. Sisters Viola Reeves, Medford, OR, Lois (Bill) McGarity, Medina, TX, Opal “Winkie” Walker, San Antonio, TX, and Joyce (Gary Muczygemba) Mallory Center Point, TX.

She was preceded by parents; one son, Blain Trasamar; two brothers, Norman & Andy Davis, and two sisters, Nona Gene Jonas & Gail Davis.

Memorial Services will be held on Friday, December 22, 2017 at 2:30 PM at the Locke Funeral Home; 1519 W 4th Street Waterloo, Iowa 50702.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Friday at the funeral home. Her Burial will occur at the Iowa Veteran’s Cemetery at a later date.
