BERTHA FREY
1922 – 2018
Bertha Frey passed away peacefully on January 12, 2018 in Lodi, CA. She was born February 4, 1922 in Victor, CA to Joseph and Karolina Fleck, of whom both were born in Russia. She was one of 17 children.
The family moved to Goodrich, North Dakota in 1926.
Bertha married Wilmer Frey in Goodrich on November 10, 1940. They resided there until 1951 when they moved to Lodi, CA with their children.
When Berth was younger she worked in the fruit packing sheds. She later worked at Stokely Van Camp Cannery (now Pacific Coast Producers), for 30 years and retired. Bertha did seasonal work at Tax Forms Supply in Lodi.
Bertha was a long time member of Vinewood Community Church.
Bertha had a loving heart and was a giving person. She enjoyed having friends and family in her home and enjoyed cooking and baking. Bertha was always ready to plan a gathering at her home. She loved her entire family and devoted her entire life to them. She had an open door for everyone and there was always room for one more.
Survived by her children; Kurby Frey, Bernice (Jerry) Edwards, Judy (Bruce) Agnew, Margie (Tom) Holmes and Carla Cassinelli, her sister, Emma Mantz of Sparks, NV, her grandchildren, Spencer Edwards, Lonnie Edwards, Kristin Featherston, Erin Lenzi, Susan Bruce, Stephen Cassinelli, Kevin Cassinelli and Kyle Cassinelli, numerous great grand children and great-great grand children and special family Jimmy and Billie Schmierer and sons Andrew and Kevin.
Bertha was preceded in death by her husband Wilmer in 1989, by her infant son, Wilmer Jr. in 1943 and companion Emil Schmierer and 15 siblings.
Friends and family are invited to visit Wednesday, January 17th from 10:00 am – 8:00 p.m. at Lodi Funeral Home, 725 South Fairmont Avenue in Lodi. Graveside services will held Thursday morning January 18th at 10am at Cherokee Memorial Park. A Celebration of Bertha’s life will be held immediately following at Vinewood Community Church at 11:00 a.m. with a reception to follow.
