Luis Galvan, 88, of Lodi, died peacefully on January 12, 2018. He was born June 1, 1929, in La Piedad, Michoacan, Mexico to parents, Vincente and Carmen Galvan.

Mr. Galvan married Maria Amparo de la Luz Gauna on July 21, 1950, in Mexico. The couple lived there until 1962 when they moved to Auburn, California. They came to Lodi in 1968

Luis was field foreman in agricultur­e in the San Joaquin Valley. Mr. Galvan was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church. He enjoyed gardening, baseball, fishing and spending time with his family.

Mr. Galvan is survived by six sons, Mario, Frank, Hector, and George Galvan of Lodi, Rod Galvan of Visalia, and Jesse Galvan of Granite Bay; one daughter, Juana Sofia Galvan de Izaguirre of Idaho; 28 grandchild­ren; and 28 great-grandchild­ren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Amparo Galvan; son, Jose Luis Galvan; a granddaugh­ter, Maribel Galvan; and all his siblings, three brothers and three sisters.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 22, 2018, at Lodi Funeral Home from 12:00 noon until 8:00 p.m. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be said on Monday at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, January 23, 2018, 10:00 a.m. at St. Anne’s Catholic Church with a committal to follow at Cherokee Memorial Park.
