Tokay shuts out St. Mary’s on the road

The Tokay High boys soccer team remained undefeated in the Tri-City Athetlic League with a 4-0 road win over St. Mary’s on Thursday.

In the second half, Tokay (3-0 in the TCAL, 7-1-2) scored all of its goals. Luis Baez scored the first goal for the Tigers, followed by two from Leo Reiz and Ivan Rosales having the last one.

“In the second half, the kids finally found the net,” said Tokay coach Ruben Gomez. “We did have several shots in the first half.”

Reiz had two assists, and Matt Salas had one for Tokay. Goalie Luis Alvardo had only two saves.

Cristian Gonzales, Richard Herrera and Jose Gomez played well for Lodi (0-3 in the TCAL, 3-13) in Thursday’s home game.

Frosh-soph

Brandon Razo and Froylan Gonzalez had two goals each for the Tigers in Thursday’s TCAL game in Stockton.

There were seven Tokay soccer players who scored a goal each; Jose Contreras, Anthony Quiroz, Christian Saenz, Isaac Sanchez, Francisco Gaona, Conley Souza and Eduardo Guillen, who had three assists. Souza and Razo had two assists each.

BOYS BASKETBALL Varsity

Nate Bond led the Eagles wtih 22 points and Nick Figueroa added 20 as the Eagles improved to 13-5 overall and 6-0 in the CCAA with Thursday’s win.

JuWan Couey added 16 points, Cody Doell had 12, Ian Malagon and Nate GotgotaoWa­shington added eight each and Josh Alejandre had three.

GIRLS SOCCER Frosh-soph

Andrew Becerra scored two goals for Lodi in Wednesday’s league home contest. Madison Novo, along with Jordan Meyers, Georgia Kelly, Cecilia Chinchiolo, Camellea Klipfel and Frida Rodriguez scored a goal each.

GIRLS BASKETBALL Varsity

A 10-0 run toward the end of the second quarter helped Lodi (3-0 in the TCAL, 11-8) to a 26-14 halftime lead in Thursday’s road win.

“We were getting steals and turning those into fast break points,” said Lodi coach Brandon Shea.

Marissa Fabian led the Flames with 22 points. Ellie Van Tassel followed in scoring with 17, and Brooke Aberle 10. Calista Morita had three, and Zoe Faulkner and Isbella Fugazi two each. Frosh-soph

Ashlee Toy scored 27 points for the Flames in Thursday’s TCAL game. Annette Vasquez had seven points, Shelby Yarbrough and Patricia Coffaro six each, Ashley Vasquez and Savannah Head four each and McKenzy Perkins two.
