During worm lab at St. Anne’s School in Lodi, students in the fourth and seventh grades come together during the worm dissection lab.

Mentored by the older students, the younger students identify the worm’s brain, hearts, digestive system and other features.

“The worm lab was disgusting but fun. It was neat to see all the parts of the worm,” student Meredith Mustin said.

Sailing away

St. Anne’s students go back in time to 1906 during the Age of Sail Maritime field trip.

The 18-hour, overnight excursion takes place aboard a real sailing ship, and under the watchful eye of the ship’s officers, the “lads” carry out a task on a ship that would have taken place at the turn of the 20th century.

The adventurous experience teaches students responsibility.

In the words of McKenzie Dobbins: “My Age of Sails experience was very fun. While we were there, me and my crew learned how to lower and raise the dory (life boat). At the end of Age of Sail, my whole class learned how to work as a team.”

Another “mate,” Bella DuValle reflected: “I loved my Age of Sails experience. It was so fun because we got to make a bosun chair. The bosun chair is a chair that they used to lift people up to fix the sails. I got to ride in it. It was a little scary but so fun.”

Meeting local law enforcement

The Lodi Police Department visited the school and gave the students a real look into how they protect us.

Showcasing their B.A.T.T (Ballistics Armored Tactical Transport vehicle) helped the students see how prepared the department is to serve the community when the need arises.

Adopt a Family

Students at St. Anne’s participate in the Adopt a Family program. During their Christmas party, students wrapped gifts that were specifically purchased for a needy family.

Open house

St. Anne’s will be hosting an open house this Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
