Tokay wrestlers notch another league win

The Tokay High wrestling team remained undefeated in Tri-City Athletic League dual meets, defeating Lincoln 46-27 in Thursday’s road contest.

Winning by pins for Tokay (4-0 in the TCAL) were Joseph Valdez (160-pounds) over Guillermo Cordero, Carter Bozovich (172) over Miguel Raya, Cameron Senner (184) over Julian Gonzales and James McClain (285) over Adrian Guzman.

Seth Chaney (122) was one of three Tigers winning their matches by decisions; the others were Jacob Pursell (154) and Matt Cooper (197). Junior varsity

Winning their matches for the Tigers were Moyses Luciano (172) by decision, Robert De La Torre (184) by forfeit and Carlos Torres (197) by pin.

GIRLS BASKETBALL Frosh-soph

Ashlee Toy didn’t toy around in scoring for Lodi in Thursday’s cross-town and rivarly game against Tokay, scoring 21 points. Annette Vasquez followed with 13 points, and Ashley Vasquez with eight.

Tokay’s scorers were Aniyah Dean, who had 15 points, Simone Medeiros 12 and Micaela Algoso four.

Lodi led 29-20 at halftime, but outscored Tokay in the third quarter, 17-11, which led to a 46-31 lead entering the final quarter. Freshmen

Jenny Corona scored 13 points to the Tigers in Thursday’s loss, along with 10 from Armani Reynolds, six from Ahmiena El-Kheidi and two from Karol Nateros Perez.

BOYS SOCCER Frosh-soph Jose Contreras scored a hat trick with three goals in Tokay’s victory at the Grape Bowl on Thursday. Rigo Godoy added two goals, and Adrian Garcia and Eduardo Guillen scored one each.

Guillen added three assists, Brandon Razo had two and Anthony Quiroz and Fernando Gomez had one each. Jorge Oregel had three saves in goal as the Tigers improved to 11-1 overall and 5-0 in TCAL play.

GIRLS SOCCER Frosh-soph

Hannah Dondero scored on an assist from Jordan Meyers in the second half as the Flames’ only goal in Wednesday’s TCAL road game in Stockton. The Trojans tied the game on a penalty kick.
