Quashnicks celebrate 50th anniversary Computer classes at the Lodi Public Library

-

Galt High School sweethearts and native Galt residents Dennis and Sandra (Gribaudo) Quashnick recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Dennis Quashnick is the son of the late Arthur and Elsie Quashnick of Galt, and Sandra Quashnick is the daughter of the late Carl and Angeline (Gribaudo) Hall of Acampo.

Dennis and Sandra first met while attending Oak View Elementary School together in Acampo. Dennis later transferred schools but the couple reconnected years later when both attended Galt High School. Dennis was on the track team and a football player, as well as being a member of the Letterman’s Honor Society. Sandra was the president of the Girls Athletic Association, a homecoming princess, the senior class prom queen, and a varsity cheerleader. They became a couple and have been together ever since.

The high school sweethearts graduated together from Galt High School in 1965, and soon thereafter, began planning their wedding. Dennis and Sandra were wed on the afternoon of Dec. 2, 1967 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Lodi. Following their ceremony, a beautiful reception was held at the Lodi American Legion Hall with close to 400 family and friends in attendance.

The original wedding party included: maid of honor/cousin Laurie (Catuzzo) Wagner, sisterin-law Darlene Gribaudo of Acampo, sister Carol (Gribaudo) Davidson of Galt, friend Barbara (Sanders) Christensen, cousin Patti Berglund of Acampo, and friend Christine (Johnson) Norton of Galt. And for the groom: best man/brother Terry Quashnick of Reno, Nev., brother-in-law the late Leroy Gribaudo of Acampo, new brother-in-law Galen Gribaudo of Acampo, brother Darryl Quashnick, friend Greg Rausser of Galt, and friend Tom Schaffer. The bride was given away by her oldest brother, the late Carl Gribaudo of Galt.

The couple built a new home in Acampo and went on to have two children: Denise (Quashnick) O’Donoghue from Galt, and Kevin Quashnick (formerly from Galt, now living in Denver, Colo.).

In addition, the couple have two beloved grandchildren: Nicholas O’Donoghue and Kelsey O’Donoghue (both also from Galt)

Dennis and Sandra attended San Joaquin Delta College. Sandra later became employed with Lodi Community Hospital where she remained for some years before transferring her employment back to Galt, working the front office for Dr. Kenneth Sanford DDS. Dennis graduated from Delta College and went on to Sacramento State College with a civil engineering major. While still in school, he was offered a position with the engineering consulting firm, Kleinfelders & Assoc., Inc. which he accepted, and ultimately remained with throughout his career.

Both Dennis and Sandra are now retired and although they have moved a few times and have lived out of the area over the years, they have once again found their way back to the area and now focus their energy on their new home in Woodbridge and on all of their family and friends.

While Dennis and Sandra celebrated their anniversary milestone with a small out-of-town getaway, they plan to formally celebrate their 50 years together this spring when they will be joined by Mr. George Wagner and Mrs. Laurie (Catuzzo) Wagner (the bride’s original maid-of-honor) to embark on a boat excursion down the Rhine River. Their celebration and adventure will start in Lake Como, Italy and over the following weeks they will explore Switzerland, Germany, France, Amsterdam, and the Netherlands.

Congratulations and Happy 50th wedding anniversary Dennis and Sandra Quashnick! We love you and wish you safe travels! Love always, your children Denise and Kevin.
